BO 4-6-2 #5061 - Baltimore & Ohio
Description:
Baltimore & Ohio 4-6-2 Pacific #5061 was caught resting quietly in the New Castle, PA, yard. Baldwin built this Pacific type steam loco in September of 1911 originally as B&O #2146 (serial #36850, class P-1). It was rebuilt to P-1aa class. In 1918, it was rebuilt again, reclassified as P-1d and renumbered to B&O #5061. After nearly 42 years of service, the loco was unceremoniously sold for scrap in December of 1953. BO 2-8-8-4 #7602 - Baltimore & Ohio
Description:
This massive brute, B&O 2-8-8-4 #7602, was one of the last articulated steam locomotives built in the US. Although B&O wanted diesels in 1944 but were forced by the war effort to order only steam, this massive locomotive served a desparate need for power to move coal in the West Virginia area. Built by Baldwin in 1944, the last of this class was retired in 1960. Specs - EM-1 class). 64" drivers, an impressive 235 psi boiler pressure, 24"x32" cylinders, engine weight of 628,700 lb and impressive tractive effort of 115,000 lb. No photographer, date or location was listed on the photo. Thanks to John Kernan (see comment below), the locaiton is New Castle, PA. Thanks John for your help!

BO 2-8-8-4 #679 - Baltimore & Ohio
Description:
Although Baltimore & Ohio wanted diesels instead of more steam locomotives, due to the War Production Board restrictions, the massive Yellowstones were built instead. Baldwin built this loco originally as BO #7629 (serial #71511) but it was renumbered late in its life to BO #679 in February of 1957. The loco was dropped from the roster in 1960 and presumed scrapped. Specs - EM-1 class, 64" drivers, impressive 235 psi boiler pressure, four 24x32" cylinders, massive engine weight of 628,700 lb, impressive tractive effort of 115,000 lb. No photographer was given.
