SCL 1822 |
Description: |
U36B 1822 leads two of her older, larger sisters on what looks like a late-running #186 coming into Wildwood at the SR-44 crossing. This road is now a four-lane divided highway, and the crossing has been replaced with an overpass. The photographer's 1971 Datsun 510 is at right. |

L&N GP38-2 4105 |
Description: |
Louisville & Nashville GP38-2 4105 leads a southbound train into New Orleans, as it approaches the railroad's Gentilly Yard. Seaboard Coast Line U36B 1822 is parked on the Michoud Siding with a crewless run-through train for the Southern Pacific, waiting for permission from the SP to deliver it. Michoud Siding extended for six miles from the north end of Gentilly Yard, and it was very common for run-through trains to be parked here for hours, or even days, waiting to be delivered to either the SP or the MP. |
