Title:  GN 2-8-2 #3149 - Great Northern
Description:  Interesting example of an Alco-Brooks built 2-8-2 Mikado. Originally built for the Spokane Falls & Northern, it was acquired by GN in the merger of the SF&N in 1921 (serial #55444, reclassified as GN O-2). The loco was eventually retired April of 1947 and scrapped March of 1949. No date or location given for the photo taken by S.R. Wood. The "Midwest Oil Co" sign in the background suggests Sioux Falls, SD.

MILW 4-6-0 #1076 - Milwaukee Road
Title:  MILW 4-6-0 #1076 - Milwaukee Road
Description:  This good looking Milwaukee Road 4-6-0 still has many years of service left when this photo was taken in Sioux Falls, SD. Actually, Milwaukee Road 4-6-0 #1076 started out from Burham, Wms & Co (Baldwin predecessor) in September of 1900 as CM&StP Vauclain compound ten wheeler #353 (serial #18203, class B4) but was renumbered several times starting with March of 1907 to #1703 > in September of 1912 to #4303 > in March of 1921, it was simplified and renumbered to #2853 > finally renumbered one more time in September of 1938 to MILW #1076. The loco lasted until February of 1953 before being scrapped after 53 years of dedicated service. No exact day in 1940 was given so an approximate was used. The photo was taken by rail fan Hanft and is now in my rr collection

Title:  MILW 4-6-0 #1076 - Milwaukee Road
Description:  This good looking 4-6-0 was originally built as CM&StP Vauclain compound 4-6-0 #353 by Baldwin in September of 1900. During its long 53 years of service, it held many numbers - renumbered in 3/1907 to #1703, remumbered in 9/1912 to #4303, renumbered and simplified in 3/1921 to #2853, renumbered in 9/1938 to #1076. The loco was scrapped in February of 1953. No photographer was listed.

Title:  GN Brill 2325
Description:  Great Northen Railway Brill 2325 east of Sioux Falls, South Dakota on an unknown day in June 1958, Kodachrome by Dick Rumbolz, Chuck Zeiler collection. Built in 1928 by Brill ( c/n 22627 ), it was originally powered by a 300 horsepower gasoline engine, and in March 1948 it was repowered with a 275 horsepower Stirling diesel. It was scrapped in July 1959.
