Title:  PRR 5715 rounds Dairy Farm curve
Description:  The passenger diesels were still new to the property in 1953. The PRR safety department produced a training film about dealing with a fire aboard the locomotive, and this is the "model" train that they used to shoot the movie. Note the charring on the grille behind the engineer from the movie fire that was set for filming. Dad was track supervisor along this section of the Middle Division, and the film director wanted the track to look perfect - look at the line of fresh grey ballast. According to Dad, he had his section crew pick and place every stray ballast rock to get that perfect scene the day before the movie was shot.

Title:  PRR 5715 in an engineer's safety training film about a fire in the turbocharger
Description:  Dad was track supervisor on the PRR's Middle Division in 1953-54. This is a movie train - the PRR safety department wanted to produce a film about the hazards of a fire in the prime mover, and this section of the Middle Division is where they chose to do the shooting. Dad's track crew placed ballast rock-by-rock to achieve that perfect line of the grey stone ballast against the older black cinder ballast. Note the black charring on the grille behind the engineer. This is where the movie crew set a fire as an movie effect.
