The proud crew of Baltimore & Ohio 2-8-2 #4405 pose for a photo by an unknown photographer after their yard switching was done. Built by Baldwin in March of 1921, it served the B&O for nearly 36 years before being retired and scrapped in March of 1957 at Mt Clare, MD. Just before retirement, it was assigned a new number B&O #402 but probably was not renumbered on the loco before its retirement. Specs - class Q-4, 64" drivers, 220 psi boiler pressure, 26x32" cylinders, engine wt of 327,400 lb, tractive effort of 63,200 lb. No photographer was listed for the photo. |
