Everyday. Here is an original 35mm color slide by Kenneth Lehman that was taken in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, on 3 September 1987. Shown here (L to R) are Conrail engines #8079 and #3342. Both were built by GM-EMD: #8079 in February of 1973 and #3342 in June of 1978. In this context, they're pulling a long string of hopper cars into Hollidaysburg on the Bedford Branch line. Also visible in the center is Conrail's Hollidaysburg Car Shop; it was built in 1955 by the Pennsylvania Railroad and christened the "Samuel Rea Shop." A not-so-bald "Bald Hill" dominates the distance. Photo taken from the US Route 36 Bridge, facing railroad East and Frankstown. |
