Grand Canyon Railway 239 leads the southbound Williams Flyer into its namesake station. 239 was built for Amtrak in 1977 as an F40PHR. These units were similar to standard F40s, but used some components from Amtraks SDP40Fs, which were being traded in en masse at the time. The unit served with Amtrak for over 20 years, coming to Grand Canyon in the early 2000s. This picture was taken almost ten years to the day we first caught 239 in Williams. |
