BNSF 9105 leads an empty coal train from Sikeston, Mo. (E-SKSBTM 034A) north over the Cuivre River as it enters Old Monroe, MO. on the BNSF Hannibal Sub. The new bridge was originally planned to be completed before December of this year. Now that the river has finally returned to a normal level, efforts to replace the aging structure have resumed. Since this picture was taken; they have added 2 more cranes and will soon add two new abutments. The plan is to slide the existing structure to the side away from the old pedestrian bridge (left frame) and then drop in new concrete spans one at at time. Process should allow traffic to run through during the night while bridge replacement happens in the daytime.
