Here is an early version of the 2-8-0 Consolidation wheel configuration. Built by Burnham, Wms & Co (Baldwin) in 1898, it was part of the 664 class for the Santa Fe. Specifics - 57" drivers, 180 psi boiler pressure, 21"28" compound cylinders, engine weight of 156,130 lb, tractive effort of 33,145 lb. Unique in that it was the first Baldwins to be built with cast steel frames. Most of the class were scrapped before WW II. Date and location are approxmiations. No photographer listed. |
