In the October 1971 issue of the ORER, the following note is shown for this car; Dimensions of depressed flat car numbered 863002 are as follows: Length of depressed section 21 feet, width of depressed section 9 feet, height of depressed section above top of rail 2 feet, height of end of car above top of rail 4 feet 3 inches, width of car end section 9 feet. This car is equipped with steel loading floor and has 2 six-wheel trucks. Space between truck centers 41 feet, between axles 4 feet 6 inches. Height above rail to center of gravity 22½ inches, light weight 125,900 pounds. Concentrated load may equal load limit capacity (600,000 pounds) provided load is supported in depressed pocket of car on a distance of not less than 10 feet and 5 feet each side of center line of car. |
