Delivered to Southern Pacific as GP38-2 4809 in May 1980, this locomotive was assigned to snow fighting serviced and based in California. Although this EMD now wears the uniform of new operator Union Pacific, the Espee applied icicle breaker, rotating windows, and center window grills remain. Note the nose mounted headlight has been moved between the numberboards but the nose scar remains. I don't know if these diesels work in regular service year round or are stored until winter but this entire group looks well cared for. |
