The Old Conrail Ballast Supply
The line comes up a significant grade from East Freedom to Roaring Spring, the location of the rock loadout that supplied Conrail with ballast for years. The massive quarry at Roaring Spring is out of view to the right. The crew was running around a few cars during the switching process at Appleton Paper, a mile further up the line.
