| In the mid-1960s EMD constructed new passenger power for a handful of railroads. These units were modified freight power - SD40s and SD45s with steam generators included. Here we see one of the SDP40s, Burlington Northern 6398 (originally Great Northern 324), on the point of an eastbound freight at Baring, on Washingtons Stevens Pass, on September 20, 1979 - just a bit before the seasons snow begins to fall. |
