PRR 5861, EP-20, c. 1954
Mann. Here is a photo by an unidentified photographer that was taken at the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1954. Shown here (R to L) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5861 and two more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All are EP-20's built by GM-EMD and rated at 2,000 horsepower each. #5861 was constructed in February of 1948. In this context, this A-B-A set is pulling a passenger train around the Curve and down the Allegheny Mountains to Altoona and points East. Wave to the Engineman! (Gift from Brad Mann.)
