PC 7219, GP9, c. 1971
Altoona Action. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide by an unidentified photographer that was taken at the Passenger Station in Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1971. Shown here (R to L) is Penn Central engine #7219 and two more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD. #7219 is a GP9 constructed in November of 1957. Looks to me like the "Geep" is helping to pull this passenger train on its run from Pittsburgh to Harrisburg. What a pathetic show: the "Geep" has but one working headlight, the first "E" unit looks like something the cat dragged in, and the second "E" unit was produced in the late 1940's. Long gone are the days and nights of "named trains" stopping in Altoona! ("PrrFan18n")
