Kern. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Fred R. Kern that was taken near Cove, Pennsylvania, c. 1960. Shown here (R to L) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9780 and two more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9780 is an EF-15A built in February of 1951 and retired in August of 1966 after just 15 years of revenue service. This A-B-A set is heading East to the Enola Yards. ("PrrFan18n")
