GM&O 628
A trio of GM&O GP35's have just delivered some cars to the Southern Railway's OLIVER YARD and are on their way back to CANAL YARD, about a mile away. On their way back, they will pick up the cars which the Southern has delivered to the GM&O. These cars are parked on a siding between the GM&O and the Southern's New Orleans Terminal Co. and can be seen just to the right of the 628. The 628 is crossing the Florida Avenue Canal. Patrick Harris General Railfanned this same area from 1995-1999, but only got to shoot one train ever crossing this bridge. It's cool to know that I stood in the same place 30 years later. I'm privileged to call Mike and his sons my friends. 4/23/2010 9:54:50 PM
