IAIS 513 - RI Heritage Locomotive Editors Pick! Contributor's Pick!
The New Iowa Interstate Railroad Rock Island Heritage Locomotive has been released from Mid-America Car & Locomotive and has been added to the consist of DME Train 271-20 and will head to its new home rails via ex-Rock Island trackage. At this point they were beginning to make their way to the west end of the yard before heading back to their outbound train on the east end. Kudos to the IAIS for this. What an awesome looking locomotive. By far the best looking wide-nosed GE since the Santa Fe Warbonnets were new. Can you smell what the ROCK is cookin'?

Joey Ulch General It's nice to see that some railroads appreciate their heritage. The designers back then really cared about the appearance of their equipment and understood the concept of a positive public image. I hope we see more railroads taking the time and money to do this. 2/2/2010 6:47:42 PM
Joseph Bishop General Awesome Shot! 12/5/2011 2:45:00 PM
