Title:
UP MacA-63 2281
Description:
Union Pacific Railroad MacA-63 2281 at an unknown location on an unknown date, photo by Dick Rumbolz, Chuck Zeiler collection. This is another unmarked negative that I purchased from Dick Rumbolz in 1965. The date entered is based on the retirement date, the location is based on most of the UP photos I have from Dick Rumbolz were shot in Council Bluffs. According to utahrails.net, This locomotive was built by Baldwin in March 1918 (c/n 48143) and was a coal burner. It was originally classed as MK-63, during WWII it was re-classed as MacA-65 (MacArthur class). It was retired in July 1954. It appears that the trailing locomotive is 9000, a 4-12-2 that was saved. That might help narrow down the location. I don't believe the 4-12-2's were allowed to go to Council Bluffs.
